The Cruel Prince By Holly Black. (The Folk of the Air #1).
Synopsis
Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever. And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.
As Jude becomes more deeply embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, she discovers her own capacity for trickery and bloodshed. But as betrayal threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
Review
Alright... on 2017 i started reading this book and i felt bored reading the first two chapter and then i gave up. i don't know... maybe i got up from the wrong side of the bed. so time passed by and i saw the cover of the The Wicked King. which was so beautiful and mesmerizing. And The cruel prince had these amazing reviews and i was like HEY! May be i should give it another chance. so it was 2019 when i started reading it. Again. And let me tell you. I'm so glad and a little bit mad at myself that i didn't read it soon enough. But i finally read it.
I'm not going to give any spoilers though but this book is so good.
No matter how careful I am, eventually I'll make another misstep. I am weak. I am fragile. I am mortal.I hate that most of all.
Jude is a strong character. she endures bullying , unfairness which will make us readers spitting mad. There's spying , secrets and plot twist. This Fae world is too cruel which i love the best. Everyone hates one another. and no one can be trusted. And Cardan... man! did i hate and love him at the same time.
“Most of all, I hate you because I think of you. Often. It's disgusting, and I can't stop.”So overall i loved this book. It was full of drama, cruelness, betrayals and a pinch of romance( i think so) who doesn't like something like that right ?
After you finish reading this book... you would literally be going crazy to read the next book... The Wicked King.
Ratings: 4/5
